It may come as a surprise but predictions are not that important as they are considered to be. Many people think that no matter what, our life’s events are fixed by the placement of planets at the time of birth. In short – by our horoscope. So whenever they visit an astrologer, they ask him for predictions as they believe that events signified by the horoscope are bound to happen. While their belief is not entirely false, it’s not 100% true either. This is because predictions can (and do) change over the course of time. But if predictions are not important, then what is? Remedies are; and they are what make predictions change.
Suppose the upcoming time period for you is governed by Sun and it is not placed well in your chart. If you visit an astrologer, he’ll predict negative events for that time. Based on the position of Sun, he might predict “You’ll lose your job”. But what if you’ve already done a remedy which makes your Sun better for you like wearing a good Ruby (given that this gem suits you). Then your Sun’s time period will give you much better results and those negative events are unlikely to occur. Instead, you may see positive events happening like getting a promotion in the very same time period of Sun. Even though the astrologer predicted the correct event as per your horoscope, it did not take place.
I personally know of people who have a damaged “foreign” house in their horoscope but are well-settled in a foreign country. People who had serious health issues (their horoscope also confirms the same). But today they are leading a healthy life. All this was possible because they did the right remedies at the right time.
As humans we do have a curious nature and like to know what lies ahead. And there’s nothing wrong in getting an insight to the upcoming events in life and how the future will be. But as we now know, predictions are not definite and can be altered. Focusing more on remedies than predictions is what will fetch you the maximum benefit from this powerful science called Astrology.

Very well written Vaibhav. As someone who has experienced the benefits of remedies personally, I could not agree more with the misconceptions we have about the same.
Thank you for sharing!

Excellent article.. what if we stop wearing a stone after the time period has ended.. many people do that. what is the concept behind it?

Based on the planetary alignment in the individual’s horoscope, sometimes a gemstone is suggested only for a particular time period (aka dasha). But in most of the cases the recommended gem can be worn lifelong.
